It’s a Product Problem: Why Aggressive Isn’t Helping Your Clients’ Skin For too long,…

The Role of the Client & Skin Specialist

Meeting the Requirements of Skin
Last week I touched upon the importance of meeting the requirements of skin. There are two very specific reasons this is crucial to getting results with your clients.
- Skin is our first line of defense against the world we live in. It is all we have to protect our internal organs and body systems from injury. Keeping our skin healthy and strong is vital to our overall health.
- In order for skin to be attractive, radiant, youthful, and healthy, we must give this organ what it needs. In doing so, we can achieve the results we are looking to obtain.
The Role of the Client & Skin Specialist
The Client – It is of utmost importance that our clients understand and implement meeting the requirements of skin daily. If this practice is not integrated into their daily skincare routine, it will be impossible to get the optimum results they are looking for.
The Skin Specialist – Clients are looking for a trustworthy source to provide information on achieving results and who better than a licensed skin professional? Educating your clients on how to care for the “health” of their skin should be your main priority. Whether it be acne, premature aging, rosacea, sun damage, etc., your client’s skin concerns will not be fully addressed without your professional guidance and incorporating what the skin requires.
Let’s talk about the first step in getting your client’s skin healthy.
The First Requirement of Skin
Proper Cleansing – In a square inch of skin we have as many as 2800 openings. Keeping these openings clean and free of bacteria is key to avoiding blemishes, acne, blackheads, enlarged pores, excess oiliness, and dryness.
What To Look For In A Cleanser
- Water-Based
- pH Balanced (4.5-5.5)
- NO Abrasive Ingredients
- Cleansers should not only be used to clean the pores but to also gently exfoliate the dead cell build-up. *More to come on this topic
- Never Over-Cleanse
- Cleansing in the evening only and rinsing with just water may be a solution to dry, sensitive skin.
